Statue of Liberty Plaza - Seattle

"The view on a sunny day is worth 5-stars, even on this cloudy day, it a hidden story in history. Sometimes the best stories are in plain sight, but you've got to know the story before it becomes visible. Here, it the story of 200 replica Statue of Liberties, most of which may corroded away through time. The statue was created in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America. I happen to have been such a boy scout, so I learned the story. The official founding was in 1910, thus 1950 was going to be 40 years. A bit weird anniversary to remember. A Scout leader from Kansas City, encouraged scouts from 1948 to 1952, to install replicas, (1/18 the original) across the nation. By the end of the project just over 200 were in 39 states and four American Territories. The story continues, as this one is the example, by the 1990's, this particular statue was badly corraded by wind and weather. Donations were gathered, but the statue could not be restored. Instead, the statue was recast, and the plaza was built through partnerships and individuals, working together. Now it's a symbol of the freedom for which it was first erected and generosity of the people of the community."

"beautiful beach, beautiful rocks, clean park, and really nice folk in these parts. i stayed for a couple days, parked in different spots along the Alki Beach Trail. there are bathrooms open 24/7(the I’m not the cleanest bathrooms, but as long as you bring sanitizing wipes, or can pee while squatting or standing up, you’ll be fine), outdoor showers(very cold water), and lots of good food at the local eateries and bars along the road that follows the beach trail."
